Hilde Schaap

Hilde Schaap is born in Amsterdam en she graduated at the Royal Art Academy of The Hague and is also a teacher in Fine Art. Hilde already had a lot of exhibitions in Europe and now she is entering Scandinavia.

Schaap loves to show ‘movement’ in her art works. ‘Even when you are standing still, your body is moving’. Energy and movements can be seen in her art.
Beside this se uses clear lines to make the contrast clear between moving and standing still. Her work is a process to discover the future and to explore herself. ‘It’s important to focus at the process instead of judging the result without seeing the process. Judging makes people scared of the new step to the future, to look forward.’
Hilde’s art is a research of the process and uses the classic colour theory with new perceptions of making paint. ‘What happens when you use milk to produce a specific colour?’

Micro and macro is also an important theme in the art of Hilde. To see and understand the whole art work you have to focus at the details, but the details can’t exist without the total overview. Vice versa; the total overview can’t exist without all the details. Where de details tell their own story, it is completing the whole art work.
