Monique believes that art is life…
It should be everywhere, it has to be felt, tasted, heard and seen.
She wants her work to be a pure experience. It should get the spectator thinking, and be more of a question than it is an answer.
The experience is the essence, not whether or not the spectator ‘understood’ it.
Her work is often staggering and intense, flows straight through disciplines and is best described as being conceptual. It distinguishes itself because of her choice of materials.
Re-use and sustainability play an important part in this, as does her love of decay.
